School News

There was an unusual spin in the activities of students in The University of Jos.
This was visibly seen in the Library, Cafeteria, Upper room, Mini cafe and departmental libraries of different departments. The silence that was observed in the area was golden. Further investigation by My School Gist correspondent revealed that the silence and seriousness of students in the area listed above was caused by the news that made the rounds that THE EXAM TIMETABLE was OUT.

Students were seen reading, jotting and completing their notes.

The exam time table was pasted at the Main Campus of the University of Jos and the exam us slated to begin July 27.

CAMPUS ROMANCE:  YES FINALLY EXPOSED 5 Signs Your Boyfriend Is A Cultist (SHARE THIS)

CAMPUS ROMANCE: 5 Signs Your Boyfriend Is A Cultist (SHARE THIS)

If there is an inscription on the faces of people we come across daily telling us who they are, then we will have less chances of making the wrong friends.

But Nature has denied us that capacity of reading people’s personality by mere appearance.

This Post is written to mark out the non-obvious signs that your boyfriend is a cultist and you don’t know it.

Quick to the Point:

1. He Has A Dominant Colour:

The Red, Yellow, Blue etc colors have been colonized by cultists. If your boyfriend is always in red, black, etc, not just trouser  or shirt but dominantly red example Phone pack, wrist watch, Glasses, face-cap, etc.

2. He Doesn’t go To Class But Always Move Out Toward Night:

Most Cultist don’t go out during the day because of their fear of rival cultist and if they must go  out in the day, they always do that in group. They prefer night movement because they perpetrate evil in the dark hours.

If he is fond of leaving the lodge often in the night only to return at  odd hours, that is a sign pointing to cultism.

3. His Clique  of Friends:

If your boyfriend has this clique of friends that are always together sharing same symbols unknown, colors of evil, mystery words etc, then you might have been with a cultist without knowing it.

NEVER MISS ANY SCHOLARSHIP AGAIN! HANG ONTO THIS SITE TO SEE LIST OF SCHOLARSHIPS FOR UNDERGRADUATE & POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS IN 2015

SIMPLY send SCHOLARSHIP to 35818 AND WATCH THE SCHOLARSHIPS LOCATE YOU

4. He doesn’t Want People To Know His Apartment:

Cultist are aware that they will always cause trouble that will make them become hunted. In taking precaution, they do not tell people their apartment. The obvious is that if people don’t freely visit your boyfriend then, he might be a cultist.

5. Strange Tattoo:

Although one won’t conclude that tattoo is a mark of cultism, but many campus guys who wear tattoo belong to one cult or another. Tattoos like spider, snake, scorpion, axe, cross, etc are pointers that the wearer might belong to a cult.

The above five points among many others tell you that your best friend belong to a cult.

Note: You don’t draw conclusions based on just one of the above mentioned points, if the person exhibits at least 3 out of these and any other obvious ones then you can make your inferences.

Cultism kills, Many who have gone down six feet and some who are still alive wish they never joined.

Why consider it in the first place????

SIGNS YOU ARE A FIRST CLASS STUDENT

6 Signs You Will Make A First Class Even If You Don’t Know It (SHARE THIS)

6 Signs You Will Make A First Class Even If You Don’t Know It

It is the dream of every fresher to graduate with a first class degree. This is the reason a class of over 500 students will raise their hand to show their desire to graduate with a first class when the question is thrown open for those who want to finish with a class.

But the obvious remain that less than 1% of students admitted the same year make a first class on graduation.

In the beginning of the semester for freshers, you can hardly detect who is good or not until results begin to roll in.

In this article I will be showing you the six signs that shows you graduate with a first class even if don’t feel like you are the one.

1. Your Association:

As students begin their first year in the university, they begin making friends and forming groups with similar interest. Those who claim big boys and big girls attract like while the serious ones will also attract their like. You will be witness that at the end of the first semester and results are released, the students who emerge the best will have a number of his friend among the best for that semester and if such association is made stronger, one or two out of that group will emerge with first class

2. You Do All Your Assignment While others come to meet you to help them out:

If you are the type that devote your time to settle all assignment before the runs out against the next day, then you have the trait of the class students. Assignment are part of assessments and sometimes lecturers surprise the students by taking the assignment as the total assessment for the semester, if your is properly done then, you are in for a first. It is also important to note that at least 40 percent of your exam questions are drawn from assignments given in class, as such if you have them very well, exam will be a revision of the assignment.

3. Your Lecturers Show Great Deal Interest in You

When you win the heart of your lecturers by your active participation in class and they begin to give illustration with your name in virtually all positive cases, then you are getting closer to making a first a class.

NEVER MISS ANY SCHOLARSHIP AGAIN! HANG ONTO THIS SITE TO SEE LIST OF SCHOLARSHIPS FOR UNDERGRADUATE & POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS IN 2015

Lecturers hardly fail their best students, even in extreme conditions where the score of the student is not up to a “B” they look for you to know what actually happened. Other students whose names are not known don’t have that chance. This is the reason why most best student don’t have missing scripts. If eventually the script is missing, it will be sought for and “must” be found.

4. You Teach Others After Classes:

Those who end up graduating with a first degree must have been spotted teaching others after class or have his/her course mates organize a class where he comes to clarify their cloudiness about a topic.

Such students become partial lecturers towards exam because every member of the class trust him/her so much to know the courses that they would want to have the student teach them before the exam.

If you are that person the rest of the class look for during exam, then you are running on the track of first class even if you don’t know it.

5. You are Never Happy When You Make a “B”:

Students who end up with a first class manage one or two B’s, all others must be “A”.

Note: If you are the type that gets provoked on seeing your result and it is “B”, it means you areon the high way to firt class. This implies that you made more A’s than B’s.

See The rule for making a first a class. Learn how to make only A’s and Manage B’s,

6. You have Once Thought of Making a first a class:

You cannot rise above your thoughts. Every thing that is as well as those that will be emanate from thoughts.

It is the thought that will give live to it through actions and you will begin to practice the first five.

This article is not saying that you will make a first class without doing anything, or by folding your hands or sleeping, no not at all, everyone who wakes up and becomes a success have not been sleeping.

Wish you all the best.

Top 7 Nigerian Politicians Who Are Passionate About Education

Nigerian Education system has greatly improved as a result of the contributions of distinguished Nigerians from different walks of life. Many of these generational change agents are still alive and with us today while some others are now in the great beyond

This article is centered on Politicians of the present who have contributed greatly to education because of their passion to see people get schooled.

In no particular order:

1. Atiku Abubakar:

I so much love this man for his passion for education. In his book titled #MY LIFE  an autobiography he gave reason why we all must get educated

He had to go to school against all odds and today he owns one of the biggest universities in Nigeria ie American University of Nigeria. His donation to Nigeria in various levels of education cannot be over emphasized. I still remember when he came to Federal Government College Okigwe and did a good donation to see that there is a conducive environment for education.

Here is quote from atiku: “Education truly can change a person’s story, it gave me everything. Whatever happens, get an education”.

2. Rochas Okorocha:

I still doubt if there is a governor of the 36 states more passionate about education than the able governor of Imo State, who declared free education from Primary level to University level. Rochas Foundation School is scattered all over the country.

3. Raji Babatunde Fashiola:

The SAN who was a former governor of Lagos state has made a laudable contribution to education especially in Lagos state. In his tenure, Lagos state scholarship board was functioning to full capacity. Spelling bee lagos is the biggest in the country. Paying for WAEC fees of all students who enrolled for WASSCE is a great contribution to commend.

4. Oby Ezekwesili:

One time minister of education and vice president of World bank Africa Oby Ezekwesili contributed a great deal t education in nigeria. She is a woman to mention when it comes to Nigerian Education.

5. Godswill Akpabio:

Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom state is the not just an infrastructural developer but a great contributor to education.

He emerged as the governor and refurbished the education system of the state.

6. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan:

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan contributed a great deal to our education system. The grant of over a trillion naira during the ASUU strike is the of 2013 is the story behind the beautiful structures emerging in several schools  today.

7. Olusegun Obasanjo:

As the president of Nigeria in the first years of the new mellenium, the president then OBJ introduced the mobile phone which brought about the spread of Internet in Nigeria. Although this was not a direct contribution but we all are aware that education in Nigeria won’t have attained this height if not for GSMs and baba OBJ brought it.

Other contributors are the ancestors of education in Nigeria such Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and a host of other ancestor.

Scholarship Tips

7 Documents You Must Have Before Applying For Undergraduate Scholarships

school id
There are basically 7 documents you must have before applying for undergraduate scholarships.
The quest to screen and identify scholarship applicants give rise to the following 7 documents required for scholarship application and aptitude tests.

7 Documents required for Undergraduate Scholarships
1. Passport: Most often the company in-charge of screening scholarship applicants give size, color and age of the passport required for the scholarships application.
For example, Scholastica requires a white – background passport not more than 3 months old and of size 450 X 450.
2. Admission Letter: If you must win an undergraduate scholarship, you must show an evidence that you have been admitted into the institution and course of study you claim.
The Admission letter can either be from JAMB or from your school. Although sometimes, some scholarships specify the actual admission letter they require.
3. O’level Result:
Virtually all scholarships demand O’level result for their application. The O’level results include WASSCE, GCE, NECO and NABTEB.
Although all these belong to O’level, some scholarship schemes demand that the O’level result must be WASSCE or any of the above mentioned in one sitting.
Scholarships like Mobil demand 5 A1 while Federal Government Bilateral Scholarship demand 5 Distinctions in relevant courses including English and Mathematics.
4. JAMB Result:
Obviously any one who gained admission into the university must have gone through the scrutiny of Jamb Admission and Matriculation board scoring at least 180 and above. Many Nigerian scholarships schemes  ask for JAMB result for application. Some scholarship demand JAMB score of 60% and above of JAMB total score.
But we advise students to enroll for any scholarship they are eligible for so long as such student passed JAMB and meet all other requirements.
5. Local Government of Origin Identification

NEVER MISS ANY SCHOLARSHIP AGAIN! CLICK HERE TO SEE LIST OF SCHOLARSHIPS FOR UNDERGRADUATE & POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS IN 2015

SIMPLY send SCHOLARSHIP to 35818 AND WATCH THE SCHOLARSHIPS LOCATE YOU

Almost all undergraduate scholarships request the Certificate of Local Government of Origin from the applicants. This is very important when it comes to scholarships that are location based for example, Area of Operation scholarship award for some oil companies. Since such scholarship favours students from the operational area, students from non oil producing students look for ways to claim they are from the operational area and to tackle this, the Local government of origin identification is a requirement .
6. School ID Card
School ID is one credential almost all the undergraduate scholarships require from students but unfortunately, most schools don’t issue the school ID on time and as a result, many students are denied the opportunity of applying for these scholarships. We advise the students to use any other document that will identify them as students of the school they claim to belong, for example, In Federal University of Technology Owerri, (FUTO) where we have a branch at EXCEL’s PLACE FUTO, students in level 100 use their confirmation of admission gotten from the Registrar to serve as their school ID for scholarship application until the school issues the official school ID. With this the students will not miss the opportunity which is even more open to first and second year students.
7. Birth Certificate
It is no lie that any application you do online or registrations will always have a field with “Date of Birth”.  And to affirm that the date of birth you have actually filled is is true, the scholarship schemes demand that applicants submit their birth certificates. And where birth certificate is not available, age declaration can also be used.
Sometimes, baptismal certificates can also serve.
It is important to note that many other scholarships may ask for all of this and more while some may only demand for just some of the above mentioned documents.
We are certain that with above information, you will be ready for any scholarship application that will come up any moment from now.

15 Grammar Goofs You Should Stop Making Immediately [Infographics]

Total grammar mastery is utopian.
Because, you know, perfection is exclusive to God.
Again, unflinching adherence to all rules of grammar is undesirable. Because doing so slaughters your creativity.
But heck, some grammar goofs are just unpardonable.
However hard you try to look artistic when you use them, they simply make you look reckless. Or incompetent. Or both.
So if I were you, I would just study them right now, and never make them again. Forever.

The Fountain 2015 Essay Contest On The Defining Theme of Our Age

The Fountain 2015 Essay Contest On The Defining Theme of Our Age
Throughout human history, different periods have been captured by a defining theme: the Dark Ages… the Industrial Age… the Nuclear Age… the Information Age… the Space Age, etc.
What do you think the theme of the 21st century will be?
The age of connections? Rebirth of faith? Clash of civilizations? Age of the internet? Rise of fundamentalism? Interstellar travel? Gender equality? Human trafficking? WW III? Artificial intelligence? Genetics? Cooperation? Competition? Spiritual revolution? Secularism? Values? Ethics? …
One may feel it is too early to determine the theme of what is still a new century. Yet, we believe it can prove useful to project the future and to be prepared for the coming days. Maybe, with enough preparation, it’s even possible to change the course of history before it’s too late!
So, look around and gaze into the horizon. Travel to the future and bring back some news.
